
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan –The Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training to 29 employees from the Hospital’s Nursing Division last November 11-12, 2015.
Response Team Leader Jabbar A. Sultan said that their group aimed to train all health workers in ONP within 3 months. Sultan said that the BLS training was intended to be part of the capability development of health workers in response to emergency situations.
Sultan said, “Napapanahon na upang ma-update na natin ang kaalaman ng mga empleyado ng ospital lalo’t higit ng mga manggagawa ng kalusugan.”
One of the lecturers, Maria Socorro Tabang, emphasized the importance of timely response to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Tabang explained that BLS doubles the survival rate of patients who had cardiac arrest. She said, “Dumodoble ang tsyansa natin sa pagsasagip ng buhay kung maagap nating narerespondehan.”
Maria Theresa Silva, Assistant HEMS Coordinator, said that their group will continue to equip the health workforce with knowledge to improve the healthcare delivery system of Ospital ng Palawan.
Previously, the Department of Health (DOH) issued an Order (Administrative Order No.155 s. 2004) wherein it was stipulated that all Healthcare Providers (HCP) are mandated to be trained with BLS.
